Back to the Basics: Home Automation Systems

home automation systems
Every now and again it is important to take a step back and review the basics. In this instance, we will take a basic review of home automation systems. There are several aspects of home automation that many people either do not know about, forget about, or simply disregard. While not every automation system has every different function, it is important to know what all of the features of home automation are so that you can incorporate the ones that are needed for you into your home! Here is a look at some of the basic features of home automation systems.
Motorized Shades
In today’s world of technology, it often becomes difficult to find things that are both simple to use, yet look exquisite at the same time. All too often it is one or the other. Motorized shades do not fall in this category. Due to the various styles such as roller shade systems, roman shades, draper tracks, and skylight shades, along with the numerous options of fabrics to choose from, motorized shades can look unique all the while being very easy to operate.

Temperature Control
Temperature control may not seem like a feature that you would necessarily need to be automated, but if so, the benefits are extraordinary. Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night because you are either sweating or perhaps are freezing due to the temperature? Well, when you wake up isn’t it always more convenient, at the time, to just try to power through it and go back to bed? The only issue is that that doesn’t work all too often, and soon thereafter you are right back where you started. How does home automation help this problem you may be thinking? Mobility! The next time this happens to you, all you have to do is reach over to the nightstand and adjust the temperature with a remote or even your cell phone.

Lighting Control
Do you love saving money? Of course you do, everyone does. Lighting control is one of the best features of home automation systems that can help to make this happen for you. Being able to remotely access all of the lighting in the house, determine which lights are on that need to be turned off, and proceed to turn them off can save electricity that might have been wasted if you were not to realize that those lights were still currently on. In the same right, having remote access to your lights is a great way to enhance the security of your home when you are away by giving your home a presence at night while you are not actually there.

Security Systems
Security systems were one of the initial and most popular forms of home automation. Security alarms are the best way to keep your home safe from unwanted intruders, whether or not you are in bed sleeping or are 500 miles away on vacation. Home automation systems can come equipped with specialized forms of security for each personal home. Additionally, you can access your security system via your smart phone to ensure that all necessary alarms are set and active while you are away.

  • Overall, home automation systems are installed in people’s homes for one main purpose; to enhance the living experience of the home. While some people may primarily want home automation for security and others in order to save money, the end result is the same in every system that is installed. However, these four features are not the only functions of home automation. If you are interested in learning what else home automation can do for you, visit our website as well.
