Second Generation iPad Mini: Retina Display

Apple is already hard at work on the second generation iPad mini and is reported to have a higher resolution display than the current tablet. Given Apple’s history and overall consistency with the iPad resolution, simply doubling the pixel count in both directions, the pixel resolution that makes sense for an improved iPad mini is 2,048 x 1,536. With the iPad mini 7.9 inch screen size, that would mean a pixel density of 324 pixels per inch which is roughly the same as the iPhone 5.

Many competitors have already begun entering this territory including Google and Samsung just to name a few. While the large size iPad already has a retina screen, Apple continues to make incremental upgrades and reducing overall weight reports are suggesting that the next iPad will likely lose one of the two LED light bars that illuminate the screen.
